Riya Marwah is a highly experienced Director of Engineering currently working at Google. With over 21 years of relevant experience, she has a proven track record of success in leading and managing cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products. Prior to joining Google, Riya held the position of Vice President of Engineering at XPO Logistics, where she was responsible for inventing technology solutions that disrupted the LTL Logistics industry. She led the development of software products that optimized operations for a business spending $1.5 billion on operations within XPO’s LTL organization. She also spearheaded the migration of legacy systems running on mainframes and other dated technologies to a modernized cloud-based tech stack. Riya's experience also includes working at Disney as the Sr. Director of Software Engineering for DTCI - Direct to Consumer & International. In this role, she led a global, cross-functional organization of 250+ playing a horizontal function supporting software products and teams across DTCI-Software engineering. She was instrumental in transforming The Walt Disney Company’s Advertising business by moving all of Disney’s digital brands and properties worldwide to Google’s advertising platform. She also released 20+ new streaming experiences for FX and National Geographic by on boarding millions of fans and the newly acquired content on TWDC's Entertainment streaming platform. Riya's educational background includes a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington, where she also completed a Program Management course. She also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai. Riya's technical expertise includes Computer Vision, AI, Data Science, Mobile, Web, and Backend technologies. Her ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams, coupled with her technical expertise, has enabled her to deliver successful software products throughout her career.
