About
Rob Marano is the Global IoT Edge Practice Leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services. He leads the Global IoT Edge practice and is responsible for developing best practices and packaged IoT solutions for AWS customers. Rob advises and enables customers and partners to securely deliver IoT devices from the edge through to the cloud, including visualization and reporting, and integrating across IT and OT data sources. He specializes in AWS IoT edge design and delivery for customers in manufacturing, telecoms, media, energy, oil & gas, life sciences, health care, and financial services. Rob has extensive experience in enterprise and telco cloud architecture design and implementation of Big Data and Machine Learning systems. He has expertise in cybersecurity threat analysis, video analytics, IoT, energy analytics, ad analytics, product and engineering strategy, and leadership in both established and startup firms. Rob founded Konsilix to provide engineering design and implementation services in the areas of Big Data, ML, and cloud architectures using SAFe agile. He also co-founded Totem Power/Cellular, which designs and builds renewable-based utility poles starting with EV charging, 5G, and IoT base stations. Rob has 25+ years of experience in product/engineering, sales, and marketing in startups, financial services, and telcos. He has held management positions at startup and Fortune 500 firms in the US and EU, including IBM, GE, Lockheed, Merrill Lynch, and PwC. Rob has a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Rob is a hands-on leader and mentor who leads engagement Delivery Quality reviews and sets excellent examples for his local AWS teams and the entire Amazon technical community. He is an expert in AWS, Web, Big Data, ML, Search, AI, and Mobile technologies. Rob is a passionate educator and lecturer on computer science, innovation, and startups.
