Robert Bergen, Ph.D. is a highly skilled Data Scientist, Physicist, and Software Developer with over 5 years of relevant experience in the field. Currently, he serves as a Health Data Scientist at the UBC Data Science Institute, where he leverages his expertise in Machine Learning, Physics Simulations, and Statistical Analysis to develop innovative solutions for complex healthcare challenges. Before joining UBC, Robert worked as a Research Associate at Ubisoft, where he was responsible for developing Fluid Simulations with Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics using Distributed Computing. During his time there, he gained extensive experience in C++, CUDA, Cloud Computing, Simulation Modelling, and Algorithm Optimization. Prior to that, he also worked as a Researcher Ph.D. Candidate at CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, where he honed his skills in Image Processing, Convolutional Neural Nets, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Python. Robert holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Health/Medical Physics from the University of Manitoba, where he conducted groundbreaking research in the field. He also holds an M.Sc in Physics and a B.Sc (Hon) in Mathematical Physics from the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg, respectively. In addition to his impressive academic and professional credentials, Robert is also an MMA Enthusiast and enjoys staying physically active in his free time.
