Rohan Jain is a seasoned software engineer with over 14 years of experience in backend development, system design, information retrieval, big data processing, machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, and advanced algorithms. Currently, he is a Staff Software Engineer at Google and leads the TensorFlow core team. He is responsible for managing and leading the team in developing new features and improving the existing ones. Prior to his current role, Rohan worked on Google's AdWords and Search products, where he gained extensive experience in product development, implementation, and team leadership. He was a key member of the Knowledge Graph team, where he led efforts to develop third-party APIs for external data and service providers to contribute to Google. He also built systems to fetch, crawl, and store external data required to build the graph and a massive-scale ETL system to process and ingest data into the graph. His efforts enabled multiple new Google search experiences for things such as recipes, concerts, streaming radio stations, movie streaming, gas prices, food ordering services, etc., affecting millions of queries per day. Before joining Google, Rohan worked as an SDE Intern at Microsoft Bing's Machine Learning division, where he worked on discovering semantically similar queries and building a dictionary of items from a small seed set of items. He also worked as an Intern at IBM India Research Lab's Machine Learning division, where he detected faulty machines in a cluster using machine learning techniques monitoring more than 10k variables. Rohan is highly skilled in software engineering, senior software engineering, backend development, ML, TensorFlow, search, information retrieval, NLP, big data, ETL, and infrastructure. He has a keen interest in data mining, machine learning, large-scale systems, and distributed systems. He completed his high school education at Apeejay School, where he studied science.
