Rohan Kumar is a highly experienced engineering leader and Corporate Vice President of Azure Data at Microsoft. With over 24 years of relevant experience, Rohan is responsible for the product strategy, technical vision, and long-range plan and strategy of all Azure Data Services, including SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Database for MySQL, Database for PostgreSQL, Database for Maria DB, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, HDInsight, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Catalog, and Microsoft's Analytics Platform System (APS). As part of his charter, Rohan is focused on delivering core data platform services for Microsoft that allow IT professionals, DBAs, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Developers to successfully develop, deploy, and manage data applications across Azure Data Services and SQL Server workloads. Rohan has extensive experience in product management, engineering, and leadership roles, and he has a proven track record of delivering innovative and high-quality products. Prior to his current role, Rohan served as the General Manager of Database Systems at Microsoft, where he was responsible for the product strategy, technical vision, and long-range plan and strategy of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Datawarehouse, SQL Server, SQL Server in IaaS VMs, and Microsoft's Analytics Platform System (APS). Before that, he served as the Partner Director of Engineering for SQL Server, where he led the development of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL DW, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server in Cloud VMs, and Analytics Platform Appliance (APS/PDW). Rohan holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi. He also completed his 11th and 12th grade from Little Flower Junior College, where he studied Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. He completed his high school education from Little Flower High School, where he studied all subjects. Rohan's technical skills include Azure, SQL, Databricks, Data Warehouse, and MySQL. He is a highly respected leader in the technology industry and has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to the field.
