Rohan Tiwari is an accomplished Engineering Leader with over 15 years of experience in designing and delivering highly scalable and reliable systems. He is currently working as a Software Engineering Manager at Google, where he is leading the team responsible for building the core payments processing infrastructure for Google Pay. This infrastructure handles millions of transactions every day and has moved tens of billions of dollars to date. Rohan is also responsible for ensuring the on-time delivery of critical platform features that enable business verticals like online e-commerce merchants, small-medium businesses, and wealth management solutions, paving the way for further expansion of the product into the highly competitive Indian market under strict regulatory guidelines. Rohan has a proven track record of driving cross-functional strategic initiatives to improve overall reliability and security with external and internal partners. He also owns the central reporting infrastructure for India payments that processes huge volumes of data and is critical for the financial health of the product and for monitoring compliance. Prior to joining Google, Rohan worked as Head of Engineering, Product Insights and Experimentation at Grab, where he led the development of a highly available company-wide experimentation platform to enable teams to execute controlled experiments in a cost-effective manner and identify new revenue streams. He also delivered a high volume low latency event/log ingestion and querying platform that can handle upwards of 100s of billions of events/day and support both real-time querying for debugging production issues and trend analytics for biz metrics. Rohan ensured on-time delivery of high-quality features across the stack that contributed to making Grab a more data-driven company overall. Before Grab, Rohan worked at Electronic Arts (EA) as a Senior Software Engineering Manager, where he led a team that is distributed across 5 cities and 3 countries to tackle hard problems in distributed systems, event processing, and performance optimization. He led the development of highly available RESTful Java microservices on AWS that power virtual economies for some of the industry’s most popular game titles. Rohan also ensured on-time delivery of critical platform features, working with business leaders from studios across the globe to deliver on platform features that meet player needs. He successfully launched Need For Speed Payback (2017) and Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) as the first-ever titles to adopt the marketplace platform. Rohan is a seasoned professional with expertise in Senior Software Engineering, infra, AWS, Java, and Microservices. He is a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a passion for building high-performance teams and delivering innovative solutions.
