Rohit Garg is a highly skilled and experienced data engineering leader with a passion for big data science and engineering. With a background in software engineering and a focus on data architecture, data mining, machine learning, data visualization, statistics, and generating actionable insights from structured and unstructured data, Rohit has architected and led various highly visible data-driven products from inception to production support. Over the last decade, Rohit has honed his skills in team leadership, algorithm design, data architecture, software engineering, analytics, big data, and agile/scrum methodologies. He is equally comfortable getting hands-on and writing an application as he is leading a team of engineers to deliver successful products. Currently, Rohit is a Mentor at Shortlist, a talent matching and employability platform that connects skilled professionals to great careers in East Africa and India. The platform screens candidates using predictive chat-based interviews and online competency-based assessments, letting employers skip the most time-consuming and bias-prone phases of hiring. Since its launch in 2016, Shortlist has worked with 500+ companies and 500,000+ young professionals. Previously, Rohit served as a Data Engineering Manager for Commerce at Meta, where he led data engineering for commerce buyer pillar and support teams, as well as efforts to build a scalable generic plug-and-play measurement analytics platform for machine learning model development. He also led efforts to develop a solution to enhance privacy of user data in data warehouse from generation/ingestion to consumption. Before that, Rohit was a Mentor at Jodel, a platform that enables its users to discover, follow, and participate in the most relevant conversations with people nearby. Rohit holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Bachelor of Science from Oswestry School in the UK, and attended The Scindia School. He has expertise in data engineering, big data, machine learning, software engineering, data warehousing, and infrastructure.
