Rohit Kalhans is a seasoned engineer and technical leader with over 11 years of relevant experience in ad tech, search relevance, big data, and machine learning. He has a proven track record of building large-scale cloud and on-premise products and services at an enterprise-grade level. At Apple, Rohit led multiple critical global initiatives that backed the $1B+ online advertising business of Apple. He managed multiple v-teams across different specializations, including design, development, quality, deployment, maintenance, and operations. Rohit delivered high-impact outcomes within stringent timelines in a very dynamic and fast-paced online marketing space. During his time at Microsoft, Rohit worked on the Azure DevOps (formerly known as VSTS), which is the core offering of Microsoft for developers. He built many highly scalable cloud services and products, including a reusable search and recommendation platform and services like semantic code search, work-item search, wiki search, quick search, and type-ahead. At Flipkart, a leading e-retailer and online marketplace in India, Rohit was the product owner and lead engineer of the data ingestion system for the Flipkart data platform. The system successfully supported ingestion of low-latency real-time click-stream event feed and high throughput batch data, for nearly 2 years, while ingesting nearly a terabyte of data a day. Rohit started his career with Oracle (Sun Microsystems) MySQL product where he implemented a major part of the Multiple-threaded replication in MySQL. This enabled customers to reliably use MySQL as a viable option for most workloads which require read-fanout (write once read many). Rohit has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He is a search, software engineer, ML, big data, MySQL, AI, Elastic Search, DevOps, Azure, and backend specialist. Rohit is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at meta.
