Rohit Ner is a highly skilled Engineer at Google Silicon with a background in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Kharagpur. He has 1.77 years of relevant experience in the field of software engineering and research science. Currently, Rohit is working as a Software Engineer at Google, where he is utilizing his expertise in tech stack, including NLP, to develop innovative solutions. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Intern at Extreme Robotics Lab, University of Birmingham, where he designed a robust algorithm to automate dismantling of Li-ion battery packs in electric vehicles. He also worked on a hard real-time API for controlling an industrial robotic arm, which helped to slash robot heat dissipation and vibration by ~50%. Furthermore, he compacted an IoT device for robot-guided battery analysis and optimized convergence of visual servoing using the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm. He developed and implemented an optimized Cartesian impedance controller for a 7-axis cobot to perform contact detection and surface exploration. Before joining Google, Rohit worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Autonomous Ground Vehicle Research Group, where he achieved remote operation of Mahindra E2O electric car, drive-by-wire using X-Box console. He also prototyped a precision speed-sensor pluggable on vehicle rims, presented work at Melbourne, and contributed to the ROS Gazebo robot simulation stack for testing autonomous vehicle traversal, perception, localization, trajectory planning. Rohit holds an Integrated M.Sc. [B.Sc(Hons.)+M.Sc.] degree in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Kharagpur and a C.B.S.E degree from DAV Public School, New Panvel.
