Rohit is a Lead Engineer at Samsung India Software Operations in Bangalore, with over 6 years of experience in developing voice-based applications for mobile and wearable devices. He has worked with a range of technologies, including Android Development, Tizen Applications Development, and Deep Learning. Currently, Rohit is focused on developing a ML-based Sound Event Localisation and Detection engine, which can detect various speech and non-speech sound events that occur in a domestic environment and predict its Direction of Arrival (DoA). Rohit's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Guwahati. He has completed Deep Learning Specialization Courses on Coursera and is an active problem solver on online sites like LeetCode, HackerRank, and Kaggle. Rohit is open to work without any programming language barriers until the work is challenging and there is always something new to learn. At Samsung, Rohit is working on a C++ based application for wearable devices (Tizen OS) to sync user's data from the device to the server. He has implemented new domains (applications to fetch user's data from) end to end, optimized SQLite DB queries, improved multi-threaded synchronization of the service to avoid any crashes, and completed platform-independent implementation of the service so that the same single service can work on wearables (Tizen OS), mobile phone (Android), or PC (Linux). He is also writing CNN and RNN based models with data augmentations like SpecAugment, time-stretch, pitch-shifting for the Sound Event Localisation and Detection engine and has submitted his work in DCASE 2020 Challenge, which was accepted.
