Roman Gurovich is a Senior Full Stack Engineer with over 13 years of relevant experience in the field. Currently, he is working with Trax Retail and is interested in Hexagonal Architecture with C# and dotNet. He has a soft spot for Elixir and prefers to connect with engineers. In his previous roles, Roman worked with Tout as a Sr Fullstack Ruby On Rails Engineer and with Ellucian as a Software Engineer. At Ellucian, he worked on Brainstorm, an adaptive competency-based learning platform that delivers a customized lesson plan depending on a student's demonstrated abilities. He built the suggestion feed, role assignment, and success score admin sections of the advising module, developed tenant-specific branding customization pages, integrated third-party student information systems to generate resources in their product based on XML requests, architected an on-demand soft validation service to allow courses to be validated only when being published, fixed arcane browser quirks, and ensured that their site responded to touch devices. He also created a conditional locking/unlocking functionality for assessments, made an interactive preview screen for pretests viewable by course designers, fixed tons of bugs across all parts of the system, and wrote automated tests with Capybara and SitePrism to ensure that features would not regress. Roman completed his BS in Cognitive Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and also attended App Academy, where he completed his course in 2013. Additionally, he holds a degree in Java from Infosys GEC, where he completed his ABET Certified Software Engineer course in 2008.
