Romit Kumar is a highly skilled Senior iOS Engineer with over 6 years of relevant experience in the software industry. Currently, he is working at Gojek as a Senior Software Engineer. Romit started his career as a Software Engineer at Paytm, where he was responsible for delivering, developing, and maintaining the home and profile module of the iOS App. He also worked on the 'Storefront' module, which provides shared widgets(components) on the home page and across the app. Romit implemented widget extension using SwiftUI for iOS 14+ and successfully delivered the 'Rewards Pay - in-app restaurant bill payment' module for Paytm. After Paytm, Romit joined a startup funded by Sequoia Capital, Matrix Partners, etc., where he built their app from scratch. He has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Makemytrip, handling the flights module in iOS. Romit incorporated protobuf for the flights module, reducing the payload size by roughly 30% over the network, which in turn translated into reduced network latency. He significantly reduced scrolling hitches and animation jerks, thereby improving the performance for the flight listing page. Romit also delivered critical projects like Flight Information Service ('FIS'), which enabled users to track the flight timing and on-time statuses in the app, and Best Fare Finder, which allowed users to check month/day-wise best fares for their flight journey. Romit is interested in the travel and tourism industry and has a part-time trading career in stock markets, particularly in derivatives(options) and commodities. He holds an Integrated MTech degree in Geophysical Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and completed his 10th grade from Don Bosco Academy, Patna.
