Roshan Toopal is a highly motivated Machine Learning Engineer at Lyft with a passion for leveraging machine learning and computer vision to positively impact people's lives. With almost two years of relevant experience, Roshan has a strong background in developing and deploying perception algorithms for various applications. Roshan's previous work experience includes a Computer Vision/Robotics Internship at Dishcraft, where he trained and deployed perception algorithms to classify extremely rare cases of broken or damaged dishware. He also integrated QR detection and super-resolution pipeline into ROS infrastructure for inventory management. At Dragonfruit AI, Roshan evaluated, deployed, debugged, and monitored computer vision pipelines for cloud-based video analysis of security camera footage in a runtime-critical system. Additionally, he profiled GPU performance and memory usage while running the computer vision stack and used the results to optimize the pipeline for migration to new libraries. Roshan holds a Master of Science degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University, where he gained a comprehensive understanding of the latest machine learning techniques and applications. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Roshan's technical expertise includes ML, computer vision, OpenCV, Pytorch, Tensorflow, infra, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker. He is a quick learner and enjoys exploring new technologies to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Outside of work, Roshan is a former Division I NCAA gymnast and a current sports/athletics enthusiast. He enjoys staying active and participating in various sports activities. Roshan is excited about opportunities that allow him to combine his passion for technology and sports to create innovative solutions that positively impact people's lives.
