Ross Carvalho is a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Big Data, Data Warehousing, and Data Modelling. He has a passion for implementing and launching ETL, ELT, Cloud Data Warehousing, Data Vault, Dimension Modelling, Data lake, API development, and Automation related projects. With intuitive problem-solving skills, Ross is proficient in SQL, Python, C, and Java. He has the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and is dedicated to continuously developing, implementing, and adopting new technologies to maximize development efficiency and produce innovative solutions. Currently, Ross is working as a Software Development Engineer - I (Cloud + Data) at FYND, where he is working on multiple cross (AWS + GCP) cloud data warehousing/ data lake projects end to end. He is working on creating multiple architectures for their Data Pipelines in GCP, which are optimized with respect to cost as well as performance. Ross is also working on architectures related to the migration of No-SQL data sources like MongoDB and relational databases like Mysql and Postgres to corresponding data lake as well as data warehouse. He has working experience on services like GCP Dataproc, Big query, Cloud Functions, Datastream, GCS, etc. Ross is also responsible for automated pipeline creation and added error reporting, error handling, etc. Before joining FYND, Ross worked as a Senior Data Engineer at Quantiphi, where he worked on multiple cloud data warehousing projects end to end. He developed multiple IICS ETL pipelines that ran on AWS EC2 to load full load as well as incremental data from the S3 files to the AWS Redshift Data warehouse. Ross also developed SCD1/SCD2 Facts and dimension SQL scripts for the insurance data model. He completely automated IICS pipelines monitoring using AWS Lambda and IICS API’s with Google chat notification feature, which helped the support team to patch issues faster. Ross also assisted in developing and thoroughly testing custom Python ETL framework, which is more efficient and scalable than IICS pipelines. Ross holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavans. He also completed his HSC in Science from Annasaheb Vartak College of Arts Kedarnath Malhotra College of Commerce and E S Andrades College of Science Vasai Road Dist Thane 401 202 and SSC from St Anthony Convent High School.
