Roy Healy is a detail-oriented problem solver with a support-focused mindset and over 16 years of relevant experience in the field of software engineering. Currently working as a Python Developer at Zyte (formerly Scrapinghub), Roy is responsible for building bots for web scraping using the Scrapy package, troubleshooting and fixing issues with existing bots, and using AWS, Docker, Kibana, and Jupyter for data delivery and quality assurance. Prior to joining Zyte, Roy worked as a Service Level Coordinator at Blizzard Entertainment, where he was responsible for real-time management of customer support and services based in multiple regions, daily reporting on CS operations, crisis management, fielding escalations, and acting as a general point of contact between CS and other areas of the business. He also worked with MySQL databases, creating tools, bots, and scripts in Python and Qt. Before that, Roy worked as a Demonstrator at University College Cork, where he assisted undergraduate and postgraduate students on practical Python exercises and served as a Lab Demonstrator for the Introduction to Programming and Problem Solving class at UCC. Roy holds a Higher Diploma in Applied Computing Technology from University College Cork and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the same institution. He is experienced in Python, Python GUI with Tkinter + PyQt5, and web scraping with Scrapy. His tech stack also includes AWS, Jupyter, QA, Docker, and MySQL.
