Ruchika Goel is a Software Engineer at Bloomberg LP, with a passion for designing, developing, and shipping engineering solutions to complex problems. She is currently studying Computer Science at Columbia University, where she is pursuing a Master of Science degree. With over a year of relevant experience, Ruchika has worked on several exciting projects that have allowed her to hone her skills in various areas of software development. As a Software Engineer Intern at Bloomberg LP, Ruchika designed a system that utilized a Distributed Trace datalake and in-house big data formats to analyze latency behaviors among internal distributed systems. She also implemented an Apache Spark pipeline to process and analyze terabytes of trace data using custom reports. Additionally, Ruchika created user-facing Python Jupyter notebooks that exemplified typical workflows to ease client onboarding. Prior to her current role, Ruchika worked as a Research Intern at Microsoft, where she prototyped a blockchain-centered system to advance donor trust and end-to-end transparency in the Indian philanthropy sector. She also set up a permissioned blockchain network and wrote smart contracts to automate the enforcement of business rules. Furthermore, Ruchika developed a full-stack dashboard web application to disseminate NGO and project data stored in blockchain to all stakeholders. Ruchika also has experience working as a Software Developer Intern at Uber, where she developed the Uber Assistant Chrome Extension to enhance searching and browsing experience for 20,000+ employees. She integrated the ability to search, filter, and view results from an internal database in the extension with an intuitive interface. Additionally, Ruchika architected a feature to view a list of top 5 recommended internal documents based on the user's current webpage and integrated Google Analytics in the extension to monitor and measure its adoption, usage, and search metrics. Ruchika's education background includes a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology from DTU and Senior Secondary Education from The Heritage School, New Delhi. She is expected to complete her Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Columbia University in January 2022.
