Ruslan Shestopalyuk is a Senior Software Engineer at Facebook, with almost two decades of experience in various fields including computer graphics and game development, user interfaces and information visualization, algorithms design and code optimization, machine learning and data science, signal processing, full stack web development, and virtual reality. He is passionate about solving complex problems by means of software and believes that it can be fun. Ruslan has a strong background in virtual reality, graphics, Android, JavaScript, C++, Java, React, React Native, user interfaces, framework development, and data science. At Facebook, he is working on the Oculus platform and is involved in the development of React VR framework, which powers the core user experience on all Virtual Reality headsets by Oculus. He has also worked on various projects such as Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift S, and Oculus Quest 2. Prior to Facebook, Ruslan worked at Schibsted Media Group as a Senior Software Engineer, where he developed and maintained NLP related machine learning pipelines and web services for various needs of media houses and online marketplaces. He also collaborated with the team working on recommendation software for large Scandinavian media houses and designed and implemented data pipeline for the user interaction history service, used in the newspapers' frontpage recommendations. Ruslan has also worked at Schlumberger as a Software Engineer, Senior III, where he developed software for a next-generation seismic data acquisition technology, IsoMetrix/Nessie-6. He implemented and maintained parallel data processing algorithms in a distributed system, high-performance computing in C++, and designed and developed visualization tools for seismic data Quality Control. Ruslan holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and a degree in Physics and Mathematics from Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum. He also completed a Nanodegree in Data Analyst from Udacity. In terms of technical skills, Ruslan is proficient in software engineering, web development, NLP, ML, data science, JavaScript, AWS, React Native, Java, data engineering, Redis, Kafka, DevOps, and MySQL. He has a relevant experience of 18.80 years and is always on the quest to learn and improve his skills.
