About

Ryan Carney is an accomplished Avionics Software Engineer with over a decade of relevant experience. He is currently employed at Blue Origin, where he has developed C/C++ application software for motor control systems and integrated ThreadX RTOS into an existing bare metal C/C++ application. Ryan has also created a C++ serial protocol serialization and deserialization library, enhanced and extended PWM and Serial DMA drivers developed for the TI TMS570, and performed and supported board bring up of new PCBs. He has held and participated in code and requirements reviews to meet safety critical software objectives and developed multiple Python scripts for testing and automation. Prior to his current role, Ryan worked as a Contract Avionics Software Engineer through Hansell and Tierney, where he developed unit tested C/C++ device drivers for ARM-Cortex-R5 processors and assisted in system requirement gathering, system design, and part selection. He also developed a time triggered cooperative scheduler with fixed priorities and static schedules and integrated scheduler, drivers, and other software components to create a prototype motor control system. Ryan's personal projects and open-source contributions are equally impressive. He has developed and maintains Dploy, a cross-platform Python implementation of GNU Stow, and 10+ Vim plugins. He also created a basic Python 2D game engine using the pygame toolkit and co-developed a 2D game engine using C++ and SDL. Ryan created a statically generated personal website using the Pelican Python framework and maintains a cross-platform development configuration using his own custom dotfiles that utilize Ansible for provisioning. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronics Engineering Technology from Western Washington University, where he studied from 2009 to 2013. He also completed Running Start at Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom from 2007 to 2009. Ryan's technical skills include software engineering, C, testing, Python, Jenkins, iOS, and infra. With 10.20 years of relevant experience, Ryan is a highly skilled and accomplished Avionics Software Engineer.
