Ryan Murphy is an energetic and delivery-focused technology leader with over 11 years of relevant experience. Currently serving as the Engineering Manager at Yelp, he is responsible for leading and managing multiple agile delivery teams using both Scrum and Kanban methodologies. Ryan is known for his ability to unblock technology teams, enabling them to deliver at pace and scale. In addition to his delivery responsibilities, Ryan leads and mentors software engineers, driving agile adoption at an organizational level. He sits across the Engineering Management and Tech Lead layer, providing mentorship and guidance to his team. Prior to joining Yelp, Ryan served as the Senior Engineering Manager at Patchwork Health, where he led multiple agile delivery teams. He was responsible for driving delivery through process and people, providing mentorship and guidance to the Engineering Management and Tech Lead layer. Ryan also led and line managed software engineers, driving agile adoption at an organizational level. Before Patchwork Health, Ryan worked as an Engineering Manager at Digital Ventures, where he built and led a successful team of 11 engineers covering all levels and disciplines. He was responsible for driving highly performant features for a classified website that receives over 100 million hits per month and serves thousands of connections per second. Ryan drove cycle time down by over 50%, allowing the team to release at pace. Ryan holds a BSc in Computing and Management from Loughborough University, where he graduated in 2011. He also attended Sir Joseph Williamsons Mathematical School from 2001 to 2007.
