Saikat Dey is a Graduate Research Assistant at Advanced Research Computing@VT, where he is currently working on developing a framework to simulate realistic Mirai bot-net attacks in a large-scale network environment and real-time intrusion detection in network traffic. With 1.37 years of relevant experience, Saikat has previously worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech, where he was responsible for generating realistic multi-attributed bipartite dynamic graph with anomaly simulation. In addition to his research work, Saikat has also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Science, where he conducted labs, office hours, and grading for courses such as CS1114 - Intro to Software Design and CS2114 - Software Design & Data Structure. Saikat holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Engineering and Science Technology, Shibpur, and a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Virginia Tech. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, which is expected to be completed by December 2025. Saikat's tech stack includes skills such as research, data analysis, and programming languages such as Spring. With a passion for the field of computer science, Saikat is constantly seeking new opportunities to learn and grow in his career.
