Sameer Arora is a seasoned Principal Software Engineer with over 17 years of experience in building and shipping software products and platforms. Currently working at Microsoft as a Principal SDE for Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Sameer is deeply involved in helping build a cloud service for Azure Database using open source components. In his previous role as a Senior Software Design Engineer at Microsoft, Sameer was responsible for adding capabilities to the lightweight and highly-configurable monitoring and tracing infrastructure used inside and out of SQL Server Engine. He also played a key role in Microsoft's cloud database offering, SQL Azure DB, primarily using C/C++. Before joining Microsoft, Sameer worked as a Software Design Engineer II at Windows Azure Marketplace, where he helped set up offers for application and data sets. He has experience in C#/ASP.NET MVC/Javascript and is well-versed in software engineering, Azure, SQL, infra, C, dotNET, ASP.NET, and Javascript. Sameer holds a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Michigan State University, a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, and has studied Mathematics at St. Stephen's College.
