Samuel Ordonia is a highly motivated and skilled software engineer with almost six years of relevant experience. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at SurveyMonkey, where he is a member of the responses platform team. Samuel is responsible for owning the responses-focused microservices and working with different teams that interact with their services and vice versa. He is currently leading an initiative to re-architect the separation of concerns across their responses services and others. Samuel was also a key member of a multi-team effort to add a new question type to collect a click map of an image, where he was responsible for persisting every unique click per respondent across all instances of this question type. Prior to joining SurveyMonkey, Samuel worked as a Software Engineer at 23andMe, where he was the primary owner of their research enrollment app. He also built out new features for their research and targeting survey platform, such as new question types and novel methods of targeting users to relevant surveys or studies. Additionally, Samuel built out a crowdsourced treatments page that gained thousands of customer-driven ratings within the first week of deployment and drove new research opportunities. Samuel also worked as a Full Stack Developer at thryveinside, where he was responsible for optimizing the backend data pipeline and frontend B2C styling and user experience programming optimization. He was willing to do whatever else the startup needed him to do to succeed. Samuel has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He has a strong technical background and is proficient in various technologies such as microservices, Docker, frontend and backend programming, and research science. In his free time, Samuel likes to learn new software skills, spend time with family and friends, play guitar, cook, explore the outdoors, play sports, or work on cars. He is always looking for engaging and useful products to build and is passionate about creating innovative solutions that make a difference.
