Samya Bagchi is a highly experienced PhD researcher with expertise in the areas of computer science, artificial intelligence, and deep learning. Currently working as a Research Assistant at the University of South Australia, Samya has been involved in training a simulated skeleton with human dance movements using recurrent neural networks. With over 11 years of relevant experience, Samya has previously worked as an Artificial Intelligence Consultant at Cureskin, where she was involved in skin colour perception, skin texture, and disease detection using state-of-the-art image processing and deep learning technologies. She has also co-founded Welfie Technologies Pvt. Ltd., where she served as the CEO and led a team of engineers, user experience researchers, and a doctor to enable remote healthcare. The company's vision was to create an ecosystem between patients and doctors to enable quick action, early detection, and constant monitoring of health using smartphone-assisted smart hardware and intelligent software solutions. Samya's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the University of Adelaide, a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Information Technology from IIIT, and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Information Technology from Techno India College of Technology, Kolkata. She has also completed the Stanford IGNITE-Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program as a scholarship candidate from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
