Sangmin Oh is a highly skilled computer engineer and scientist with a specialization in perception across various modalities, autonomous driving, and data analysis. He is experienced in machine learning, robotic perception, and software for embedded systems. With over 14 years of relevant experience, Sangmin has worked on autonomous driving, web multimedia search, visual surveillance, and mobile embedded computer vision systems. Currently, Sangmin is the Director of Software Engineering at NVIDIA, where he works as a Technical Team Manager and Engineer. He works on multiple sensor modalities, including camera, radar, ultrasonic perception, as well as sensor fusion. Sangmin is focused on dynamic/static objects and free space understanding through multiple modality sensing under various operating scenarios (highway, urban, low speed). He contributes to software architecture, implementation, code reviews, optimization, test and validation on Nvidia Drive platform. Additionally, he is part of Nvidia's technical representation at key events, customer/vendor engagements. In his previous roles, Sangmin worked as an Autonomous Driving SW Engineer & Manager at NVIDIA, where he was responsible for technical team management and building. He worked on multiple sensor modalities, including camera, radar, ultrasonic perception, as well as sensor fusion. Sangmin was focused on dynamic objects and free space understanding through multiple modality sensing under various operating scenarios (highway, urban, low speed). He contributed to software architecture, implementation, code reviews, optimization, test and validation on Nvidia Drive platform. Additionally, he was part of Nvidia's technical representation at key events, customer/vendor engagements. Sangmin also worked at Faraday Future as an Autonomous Driving R&D engineer, where he was responsible for designing, prototyping, and productizing autonomous driving for smart connected cars. He worked on SW architecture for full-stack autonomous driving systems and set up team-wide SW development/review/test processes. Sangmin's individual contributions included working with sensor engineers to verify sensing quality across cameras, lidar (both Velodyne and Ibeo), radar, and USS. He also worked on perception functions with a focus on integration of cameras, lidar, and radar towards detection, tracking, and fusion, to produce environmental modeling outputs to be consumed by planning/control. Sangmin holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Computer Science from Seoul National University.
