Sanjay Subramanian is an AI PhD student at UC Berkeley with a passion for quantitative and technical problem solving. He is currently researching methods for natural language processing and computer vision that are based on machine learning. Sanjay's research interests are in NLP and its intersection with computer vision, and he has a strong background in research and development. Sanjay has 3.70 years of relevant experience in the field of AI, having worked with prestigious organizations such as the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) and the University of Pennsylvania. As a Predoctoral Young Investigator at AI2, Sanjay was a member of the AllenNLP research team and developed machine learning models for advancing the state-of-the-art performance on question answering tasks. At the University of Pennsylvania, Sanjay worked as a Research Assistant with Prof. Dan Roth, where he developed novel machine learning and algorithmic approaches to NLP problems such as coreference resolution and temporal relation extraction. He also worked with Prof. Sampath Kannan, where he developed algorithms for a theoretical problem involving community detection in metric spaces. Sanjay has an impressive educational background, having completed his BSE in Computer and Information Science, and BS in Economics (Wharton) from the University of Pennsylvania in 2019. He also completed his high school education at Naperville Central High School in 2015. Currently, Sanjay is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
