Sanjay Verma is a Senior Software Engineer at Facebook, where he works on data-driven attribution and predicting incremental impact of ad campaigns. He leads the science and inference team, employing causal inference based statistical models using ensemble and Bayesian statistics. He also guides the broader team on engineering and infrastructure. Prior to Facebook, Sanjay worked at Amazon as an SDE I, II, III, where he drove the tech charter for building customer engagement capabilities for Alexa Shopping customers. He acted as a tech lead for 10+ engineers on the team and architected a sophisticated recommendations and ranking system, which turned out to be a huge success and eventually became a multi-year charter for the team. He also collaborated with and influenced multiple teams (same and cross-org) to drive favorable business outcomes. He earned a patent for developing a meta-ranking technology (for disparate machine learning models) as the sole inventor. Before that, he architected and successfully launched a scalable deals personalization system for Alexa users, which led to ~2x improvement in customer engagement. He also mentored 4 other engineers for the implementation. He almost single-handedly migrated a business-critical 100,000+ TPS (transactions per second) system from Oracle/SQL to NoSQL backend with zero customer downtime or impact, which led to significant IMR/cost savings for the organization. Sanjay is also the founder of Interviewloop.io, where he built a virtual interviewing platform from scratch. He hired marketers (full time) and graphic designers (part-time) before shutting it down to focus on machine learning/AI problem spaces as a career interest. Sanjay holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra and has completed a course in Machine Learning & Related Mathematics from Machine Learning University. He has over 10 years of relevant experience and is skilled in software engineering, ML, infrastructure, AI, SQL, NoSQL, backend, and senior software engineering.
