Sanket Waghmare is a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer with a passion for Artificial Intelligence and its applications in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Currently pursuing a PHD at the Indian Institute of Technology, Sanket has over 6 years of relevant experience in the industry. Sanket's most recent role was as a Software Engineer at Team Recykal, where he was responsible for developing and implementing computer vision algorithms for patent image search engines. He created customized and retrained EfficientNet deep learning models for feature extraction, and built a python flask RESTful API with a web user interface to enable users to search for existing patents in a patent image database. This solution provides an automated, cost and time-efficient alternative to traditional patent image search methods, and allows users to search for an image or cropped part in billions of patent images in milliseconds. Sanket also designed an automated solution for large-scale data building processes for images using MS-SQL, SQL-Alchemy with Python. Prior to this, Sanket worked as a Computer Vision Engineer at Cardinal Intellectual Property, where he designed and productized computer vision algorithms for patent image search engines. He also developed various algorithms to build the main product, including patent figure detection, figure label detection and recognition for large-scale image dataset annotation. He was the project lead for designing novel keyphrase extraction from patent applications using a combination of customized versions of standard NLP models like BERT and other Transformers. Sanket holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, where he specialized in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Search. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
