Santos Das is an experienced software lead with over 21 years of experience in startups as well as large organizations in Distributed Systems, Cloud, and Telecom domains. Currently, he is the Director of Software Engineering at Walmart Global Tech India, where he collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale initiatives, sets strategy and technical direction for his functional area, and establishes team culture focused on engineering/product/operational excellence. He also mentors and manages the career of technical leaders and engineers, hires and retains top industry talent, and works closely with teams in the US, managing engineers/teams based out of the US. Before joining Walmart, Santos worked as a Senior Software Development Manager at Affirmed Networks India, where he led the Cloud Native Infrastructure and Platform team specializing in Kubernetes, Istio, Prometheus, Jaeger, EFK, MongoDB to power Affirmed's 5G product portfolios. He played a major role in the company's transition to a Microservices-based architecture and architected and led the development of 3GPP Based Service Capability Exposure Function (SCEF) and took it to the deployment in Softbank. Santos also worked as a Founding Architect at Veritas, where he was responsible for product definition, technical leadership, implementation, agile project management, merge & release management, executing Proof-Of-Concept(POC) deployments, third-party integration program with AVNI SDC, hiring, mentoring, and retaining the talents. He architected and implemented NFV compatible virtualized network services, including Application Delivery Controller (ADC), Web Application Firewall, Zonal Firewall(ZFW), and integrated third-party VPN solutions to AVNI SDC. Santos holds a B.E.(Hons) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur. He has expertise in Microservices, Senior Software Engineering, Infra, Software Engineering, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Integration, and Web. Santos is a highly skilled software leader who has a proven track record of leading engineering teams with high-caliber software engineers, guiding them in architectural and design decisions, collaborating and coordinating development efforts across time zones and geo-diverse peer teams, and coaching managers and technical leaders to bring out the best in them.
