Sapna Jain is a Big Data enthusiast with over 14 years of experience in designing and implementing massive data platforms. She is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft and has worked on various projects that involve optimizing query processing, designing and developing distributed caching services, and defining an XML-based language to represent abstract distributed data flow graphs. Sapna's expertise lies in the areas of Software Engineering, Big Data, Research Science, SQL, Search, Apache Hive, and Integration. She has worked extensively on SCOPE, a declarative programming language used for analytical processing at Microsoft Online Services Division. She worked on the Scope query optimizer and enhanced it to solve the problem of missing accurate data statistics using continuous query optimization and processing. This resulted in an order of magnitude speed-up of the queries from real workload on production cluster. During her four-year tenure at Bing Search (Microsoft Corporation), Sapna worked on various parts of the Cosmos engine, a distributed storage and processing engine used for offline batch processing of query logs and web data. She worked on query optimization, converting optimizer physical algebra into execution graph, job scheduling, distributed caching, and defining an XML-based language to represent abstract distributed data flow graphs. Sapna holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from SVITS, Indore. With a relevant experience of 16.37 years, Sapna has established herself as a prominent figure in the Big Data industry and continues to contribute to the field with her expertise and experience.
