Sarath Lakshman is a passionate software engineer with over 13 years of experience in developing scalable distributed system software. He is currently working as a Storage Engineering Architect/Senior Manager at Couchbase, where he is building high-performance storage engines and working on Magma, the next-generation high data density document storage engine of Couchbase. Magma has reduced TCO by 10x, improved throughput up to 5x, and latency up to 10x, which is a remarkable achievement. Sarath is fascinated with cloud storage, blockchain, distributed systems, scalability, database systems, system design, pattern-oriented software development, operating systems research, and open-source software. He is an evangelist and author in the domain of GNU/Linux and open-source technologies, with contributions to multiple open-source projects. He is also the author of the Linux Shell Scripting Cookbook published by PacktPub.
