Sarath Pinninty is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft with over 19 years of relevant experience in developing software/services and growing teams to solve cutting-edge distributed cloud scale problems. He is passionate about large scalable distributed systems and public cloud and serves as an individual contributor, technical lead, and breadth architect for Office intelligence services. At Microsoft, Sarath is responsible for the design and implementation of Office Intelligence services. He interfaces with 70+ service teams to understand and design unified solutions to Microsoft Office hyper-scale cloud services. He co-leads Office group Service Excellence initiatives such as increasing availability from self-inflicted failures blast radius, reliability, deployment velocity, and COGS optimizations. He has also led the design and implementation of Content Search and Intelligence cloud services using Azure Kubernetes Service, Cognitive Services, and GitOps workflows. Sarath has delivered highly scalable Image Intelligence API that automatically contextualizes millions of images with object detection, handwriting, and text recognition using Azure Functions and Computer Vision API. He has also delivered a highly scalable Video Intelligence API to provide transcription, topic detection, and facial recognition for millions of video minutes. He has designed and developed IoT Edge and Gateway that connects millions of cars to Azure IoT. He has also designed and developed device registration, provisioning, and discovery services which handle from onboarding a device to sending messages and receiving notifications by using multiple Azure services like Cosmos DB, Caching, Storage, Event Hubs, and Machine Learning. Prior to joining Microsoft, Sarath worked as a Principal Software Engineer at Avanade where he worked on the engineering team to design and develop ACA BPI suite of products including Message Reprocessing, In-order Delivery, and Database Messaging. He developed and unit tested Reprocessing module and developed Email sink in Notification service for suspended messages.
