Saravana Kumar is a Data Engineer 3 at PayPal, with a passion for Big Data technologies and a strong background in Java, Spring Framework, Hadoop Ecosystem, Solr, and NoSQL. He is an active member of the Chennai Hadoop Users Group, where he shares his expertise and knowledge with the community. With over 10 years of experience in the field, Saravana has a deep understanding of Hadoop and its ecosystem components, such as HDFS, Map Reduce, Oozie, Pig, HBase, and Spark. He has worked with Hadoop distributions like Cloudera and Hortonworks, and has extensive experience in Hadoop administration, cluster planning, installation, and maintenance. He is also proficient in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and network monitoring tools like Ganglia and Ambari. Saravana has worked with various clients, including Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia and Toyota, where he designed Kafka properties, implemented Zero data loss using reading/updating offsets in Zookeeper, and used Spark SQL DataFrame API and Aggregate functions extensively for transforming raw data to meaningful data for visualization. He has also implemented DQ validation for streaming data and persist invalid records in HDFS location. In his current role at PayPal, Saravana is responsible for Bigdata-Hadoop and Spark development. He is highly skilled in Sqoop configuration to import/export data to/from TeraData/Mysql/Oracle databases, Phoenix installation on Apache HBASE, Kerberos installation and Configuration on Apache Hadoop, and HA Configuration for Hadoop components. He is also experienced in DevOps stuff for Hadoop. Saravana holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Velalar College of Engineering and Technology, and a Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Erode Institute of Chemical Technology. He is a Big Data enthusiast who loves to work with open source technologies and is constantly researching and developing new technologies to improve his skills.
