Sarthak Pranit is a Lead Product Designer at Booking.com, with a strong background in engineering and data-based design. With his extensive experience in designing successful and live mass-adopted products for apps, web, mobile, and TV, he is comfortable with both hashing out big-picture workflows and strategy, and prototyping detailed and intricate cognitively-aware interactions. Sarthak's strengths lie in his ability to balance the macro-strategy of the product with the micro-cadence of features that make sense for the user. He takes a documentation-first approach and has extensive experience in data-intensive product design culture. He is also a strong partner to ML-focused efforts that go beyond the lines of "ML is magic". Sarthak has worked in established design systems and has made mass-adopted apps accessible. As a designer, Sarthak strongly believes that every form of problem can't be solved by Design Thinking. He understands that most of the bigger problems are messy, vague, ambiguous, and subjective, and so is the process of trying to solve them. He goes beyond the six steps of the "design process" to understand the problem and the underlying incentives that caused it, to understand the engineering and data narratives to the same issue, to work with research to inform any next step with user-backed insights, and by the end delivering a language/framework to talk about the various approaches that could be tried. Sarthak's current role at Booking.com involves working on making the Booking app the go-to Travel app of the future by keeping a balance between the expected and the unexpected for travelers - a balance between "wow" and "phew" if you may. He has previously worked as a Senior Designer and UX Designer (Apps) at Booking.com. Sarthak completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from BITS Pilani in 2013. His tech stack includes designer, product designer, ML, Research Scientist, Mobile, and Web. With almost a decade of relevant experience, Sarthak is a versatile and experienced designer who can balance strategy and execution to deliver successful products.
