Sasha Kuznetsov is a Senior Software Engineer at Google with a strong background in applied physics. With almost 5 years of relevant experience, Sasha has a keen interest in machine learning, computer vision, physics, signal processing, state estimation, Bayesian methods, low-latency computing, robotics, finance, and challenging quantitative and technical problems. At Google, Sasha is part of the Mobile Vision team where he has developed and patented ML models to improve image and video processing performance. He has also integrated these models into various apps and contributed to internal image and video processing pipeline. Currently, Sasha splits his time between Android Location/Context, Location Client, and Android GNSS. He is responsible for developing the Android framework and Google location/context services, as well as ongoing location and GNSS related research involving Kalman and Particle Filters. Prior to Google, Sasha worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at Ciena where he designed and implemented control layer device drivers for optical equipment. He also wrote regression testing software of optical equipment, monitored hardware pin behavior, and tested optical gain using low-level C and VxWorks RTOS. Sasha also worked as a Software Developer at Ciena where he reverse engineered a routing table and wrote parsing software to build a list of optical services through the United States. He analyzed the performance of smart algorithms in covering optical services and expanded telecommunications equipment APIs used in planning software. Sasha has extensive experience in C, C#, .Net, Visual Basic, and Matlab. Sasha holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.), First Class Honours from Queen's University in Engineering Physics with a Computing Option. He also has a High School Diploma from West Carleton Secondary School. Sasha's tech stack includes software engineering, Android, machine learning, computer vision, test, research scientist, and mobile.
