Sashu Shankar is a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer with a passion for developing innovative solutions to complex problems. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington, Sashu has gained valuable experience in the field of software engineering through his work as a Software Engineer Intern at Pulumi Corporation. At Pulumi Corporation, Sashu has been instrumental in reducing friction for Kubernetes users to onboard Pulumi cloud management, with a seamless migration path. He has designed and implemented a CLI tool, open source library (kube2pulumi), and a web UI to convert K8s YAML manifests to Pulumi Typescript/JavaScript, Python, C#, and Golang projects in order to reduce YAML complexity. Sashu has utilized Kubernetes open source libraries, AST traversal algorithms, code generation, and compilers theory to accomplish these tasks. He has also communicated with the open source community through Slack to receive/implement feedback on kube2pulumi. Additionally, Sashu has converted Pulumi examples for cloud resource deployments in AWS/Azure from Typescript and Python to Go for new users to have a wider range of samples code in all the supported languages to get started. Prior to his work at Pulumi Corporation, Sashu gained valuable experience as a Software Development Intern at White Matter LLC, where he enhanced the UX for the synchronized camera system, Watchtower, used in clinical settings to track animal behavior and movement using JavaScript and Vue.js. He also developed the User and QuickStart guides for the application and accompanied the team to Society for Neuroscience Conference in San Diego and talked to customers for feedback. Sashu has also worked as an Independent Researcher at Fred Hutch, where he quantitatively predicted the probability of metastatic cancer by quantifying the LDHA enzyme concentration as a prospective biomarker and developed a quantitative migration assay with a series of transwell assays for analysis of enzyme content and metastatic potential in Lewis Lung Carcinoma (LLC-1) cells.
