Saurabh Gupta is a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with over 17 years of experience in the E-Commerce, Finance, and Capital Market industries. Currently working at Apple, he has a strong background in Cloud Computing with Big Data Technology and Massive Parallel Processing, and has worked with a range of tools including AWS, Spark, Hive, Pyspark, Python, Kinesis, Terraform, and Relational databases like Snowflake and Oracle. Prior to joining Apple, Saurabh worked as a Data Engineer at Expedia, where he was part of the Data Team, using Analytics to solve Business problems. He was responsible for building the next Generation Data platforms and pipelines which could scale horizontally and Vertically on both Storage and Compute with a decoupled architecture. He also automated on-premise data migration from Teradata to Cloud (S3, EMR-Qubole, Snowflake), and created data pipelines using AWS API’s, Kinesis streams, and Spark to get the data in warehouse for reporting usage. Before this, Saurabh worked as an AVP at Barclays, where he was a key member of the BI team. He was responsible for developing Database Objects, Packages, PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, collections, and creating technical designs, data warehousing/datamart designing, data modelling. He was also involved in performance optimization initiatives, including Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, design optimization, and space optimization. He was responsible for optimizing and tuning queries, providing Root cause analysis for an issue, and providing impact analysis for a proposed change. Saurabh holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Kurukshetra University. He is skilled in Data Engineering, AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Terraform, Big Data, Python, Apache Hive, and SQL.
