Sayak Sen is a proactive and inquisitive software developer with over 3 years of experience in Back-End development, Web development, and Web Automation. Currently, Sayak is working as a Software Engineer 2 at Exotel, where he has shipped 40+ tasks on ~6 different services, ranging from bug fixes, tasks to stories. He revamped Exotel's recording pipeline, building a more reliable, scalable, and efficient pipeline, leading to a 55% reduction in latency, closing one of the tech debts. Sayak also explored and proposed a new HaProxy & squid service configuration to enhance Server<>Cloud communication, which increased the reliability and scalability of Exotel's telephony infrastructure. He has automated a wide range of manual processes via Go, PHP, and Shell Scripts powering them with Jenkins. Sayak has also developed Go-scripts to calculate and push reliability metrics for core services to track SLAs. Previously, Sayak worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Exotel, where he enabled the reduction of data-storage cost by $1500/month by updating retrieval of getDetails API response from MySql to Elasticsearch. He developed Post-Processing consistency checker, which helps in giving a final sign-off of the data from the voice-team and reprocess data if required. Sayak also developed CRUD APIs for 5+ resources and their PHP script for Jenkins automation. He updated Ansible playbook to avoid 5xx while service-deployments and developed a bash script that limits Ansible fork to a max-threshold, avoiding any unnecessary instance creation in the ASG. Sayak holds an Engineer’s Degree in Computer Engineering from SRM University, a Full Stack Web Development Certification from Free Code Camp, and completed his High School education from Loyola High School, Patna.
