SeongJae Park is a highly skilled Kernel/Hypervisor Engineer at Amazon, with a passion for analyzing and developing systems. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Seoul National University, where his research focused on operating systems, parallel computing, and memory management. In his current role at Amazon, he is responsible for developing the Linux kernels for AWS, as well as creating a scalable, lightweight, and accurate data access monitoring subsystem for the Linux kernel. He has also contributed to the development of a fast and efficient contiguous memory allocator on the Linux for THP and DMA devices. Prior to joining Amazon, SeongJae worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Distributed Computing System Lab at Seoul National University. In this role, he conducted research on optimizing memory management mechanisms in operating systems for high performance and scalability on multi-core systems. He also developed a NUMA-aware RCU extension and a scalable virtual memory system using the extension, as well as static/dynamic Data Access Pattern Monitoring techniques and automated adoption of the monitoring results for efficient memory management. SeongJae has also worked as a Part-time Linux Kernel Hacker at the Korea Open Source Software Lab, where he contributed to the upstream Linux kernel project and maintained a Korean translation of the Linux kernel memory model documentation. SeongJae's education includes a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Seoul National University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Information Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering from Ajou University.
