Sharad Prasad is an experienced staff modem firmware engineer with a rich industry experience in wireless PHY, PHY-MAC interface, and MAC scheduler. With 6 years of experience in the development of modem PHY firmware in embedded C on proprietary DSP platforms for GSM/LTE wireless modems, Sharad has honed his skills in communication systems theory, signal processing algorithms, and filter design. He has also spent more than 3 years in the design, development, and integration of embedded software/RF drivers for radio front-end, transceiver, and baseband control for LTE modems. Sharad is proficient in Eclipse IDE and C/assembly/Intrinsic based code optimization for DSP targets, and has a good understanding of automatic gain control (AGC) mechanism in receivers. He is an expert in analyzing issues related to RF signal quality, making him a valuable asset in resolving Rx performance issues related to RxAGC, SNR, incorrect Doppler estimation, and DL throughout drop using proprietary log analysis, performance measurement tools, and Trace32. Sharad's experience also includes Matlab-based algorithm development for wireless PHY applications and creating floating/fixed point reference models. He has worked with multiple teams within the overall modem organization, including analog and digital transceiver systems, baseband systems, FW, systems test, RF tools, protocol, and power management, for driving various RF features and issues to resolution. Sharad is currently working as a Staff Modem Firmware Engineer at Qualcomm and has previously worked as an LTE-5G PHY - Senior DSP Firmware Engineer at Intel. He has also worked as a Senior Engineer, RF SW at Qualcomm, where he developed RF drivers to optimize script scheduling and script building times, characterized desense on victim LTE carrier, and programmed digital transceiver for PLL/LO phase delta compensation. Sharad holds an M.S in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and completed his high school education from DAV Barmana, where he studied English, Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. He has experience working with frontend, integration, C, test, and deep learning technologies and has a total of 13.96 years of relevant experience.
