Shashank Gautam is a highly experienced technology manager and engineer with a deep background in the development of scalable and performant systems. With over 12 years of relevant experience, he has built core technology platforms, services, and products at renowned companies such as Flipkart, Ola, and PhonePe. Shashank is passionate about solving real-life problems with technology and advocates for simplicity in tech and product development. As an expert in managing high-performance teams, people management, and team career growth, Shashank has managed aggressive tech and business products. He has built highly scalable systems from scratch, including core infrastructure and platform services at PhonePe, such as API Gateway, authn authz, anomaly detection, alerts, event tracking and ingestion, distributed scheduler, and P0 services to keep the business up and running. Previously, he helped build Users and P2P ecosystems at PhonePe, including user meta and lifecycle-related services, onboarding and authentication services, PhonePe Chat system and platform, user personalization and contact network systems, and a set of very high traffic services in the transactional path. Before joining PhonePe, Shashank managed part truck (zoom) business tech at Rivigo and communication and marketing platform at Olacabs. He also built highly scalable systems at Flipkart and Hightail and spoke at LSPE-IN for data ingestion using fabric on top of Hadoop infrastructure. He has contributed to fabric and is proficient in Java, HBase, Kafka, Aerospike, Elasticsearch, GlusterFS, MySQL, Dropwizard, and Docker. Currently, Shashank works as an Engineering Manager (Senior EM) at PhonePe, building cloud SaaS products, core platform services, and Infra as a service (IaaS). He has developed core infra cloud services that are common for the whole organization, a homegrown API gateway built for HA as per the org need, authn authz for human and service users (OAauth2), a homegrown config management and deployment orchestration on DCOS, a data ingestion platform that scales for millions of events ingestion per second, a homegrown object/document storage service on top of GlusterFS, a homegrown algorithmic anomaly detection (near real-time applied on historical trend) and alerting, multi-dc architecture implementation for DR DC, distributed scheduler operating for millions of scheduled callback for payments and other systems, usage tracking and quota services, and a centralized metric system built on OpenTsdb and H
