Shashank Kumar is a second-year CSE undergrad at SRMIST, Chennai, with a passion for software engineering, leadership, writing, and open source technology. He specializes in backend development and has interned at multiple startups as a content writer and software developer. Shashank was selected by MITACS for a 3-month long internship in Canada but couldn't go due to some issues. Shashank is a cinephile, reader, writer, and music lover who enjoys working out of his comfort zone with new frameworks and technologies. He started his coding career with Java and now works mostly with JavaScript and Node.js for backend and Next.JS and React for the front end. He is always open to trying new things and is currently learning app development with Flutter and all sorts of operations on the cloud, mostly AWS products like Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, EC2, and more. Aside from development, Shashank is naturally drawn towards writing. He writes mostly about movies, shows, technology, and sports but could write about anything on Earth. Currently, he is working at Farmako, where he is helping build the tech behind 30-minute medicine delivery and working on using health reports to give patients the best advantage possible. Shashank is the Technical Lead at srmkzilla, where he co-leads a team of 25+ developers along with Viraj and Ojas. He has developed, maintained, managed, and launched some open source projects like kzilla.xyz (v2), Sandesh, an open source mass mailer and campaign manager, and SRMKZILLA's events portal. He has also hosted multiple events and written blogs for the community. In the past, Shashank worked as an Associate Technical Lead at srmkzilla, where he was responsible for maintaining and developing most of the software under SRMKZILLA's banner. He was also a Technical Team Member at srmkzilla, where he learned Node.JS, MongoDB, and other backend technologies from scratch. In the first 10 months of joining, he took a git & github session for ~100 students for hacktoberfest and was responsible for the end-to-end development of octavia. Shashank has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Software Engineering from SRM University, where he is currently studying.
