Shashi Ranjan is a Principal Engineer at Transcend with over 8 years of experience in building enterprise software systems using multiple technologies. He has a strong background in developing scalable, highly available distributed backend services and has experience in design and development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of applications in retail and finance domains. Shashi has worked as a Technical Leader at Kong, Inc. where he developed REST APIs to handle marketplace infrastructure and worked on scaling the backend. He also worked on plugins development and developed REST services to dynamically create, inspect and delete Cassandra containers being hosted in a Docker Swarm cluster. Shashi developed cloud formation templates to start fully scalable Kong with Cassandra cluster on AWS cloud with just a few clicks and managed Kong deployment scripts for Kubernetes and DCOS. At Mashape Analytics, he developed a Java agent which intercepts HTTP request/response and sends the analytics data to the Analytics server. Prior to his role at Kong, Shashi worked as an Applications Developer at JP Morgan where he developed SOAP based web services and RESTful interfaces to handle real-time account open and maintenance. He created a system architecture with back-end core separate from UI and used patterns like DAO, Command, and Strategy to keep modules decoupled and maintainable. Shashi wrote a test suite to ensure the correctness of code and make sure code meets requirements after refactoring. Shashi holds an MS in Computer Science from Syracuse University, NY, and a BS in Computer Science & Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal.
