Shashwat Arghode is a Senior Software Engineer at Yahoo with a passion for solving real-life problems and building constructive solutions. He is a Computer Science Graduate student at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, graduating by December 2018. Shashwat has a strong interest in Data Analytics, Web Services, and building reliable infrastructure. He has experience in designing reliable backend infrastructure using loosely coupled micro-service architecture and building smart solutions that reduce time and human efforts. Shashwat is an expert in Java and databases, including Relational, NoSQL, and Graph, and is a Certified Cassandra Developer. Before starting his Master's degree, Shashwat worked for 3 years at Veritas Technologies and Symantec Corporation. He was part of Veritas Operations Manager and Veritas Resiliency Platform teams, giving him strong domain knowledge of High Availability and Resiliency management. Shashwat completed his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the reputed Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Pune, India. He graduated with 8.59/10 GPA in 2014. Currently, Shashwat works as a Senior Software Engineer at Yahoo, where he is working on Presto SQL database query engine. In the past, he has worked at Yahoo as a Software Development Engineer II and Software Development Intern. During his internship, he contributed to Open Source projects such as DropBox’s PyHive and Facebook’s Presto. He developed an Apache Ranger authorization plugin for Presto low latency query engine, providing a granular level of security. Shashwat also added support to the Presto resource scheduler to base job-queue selection on a user’s LDAP user-group and Kerberos authentication support in Pyhive for Apache Superset for Presto connection. Shashwat's technical expertise includes Software Engineering, Infra, SQL, Java, NoSQL, Cassandra, Microservices, Backend, Web, and Hadoop. He has relevant experience of 7.53 years and is a quick learning and diligent software engineer with a constant drive of updating himself with new technical information. Shashwat is always looking for opportunities that would hone his skillset and challenge him in solving real-life problems.
