As the VP Engineering at Nykaa.com, Shashwat has built a team of around 35-40 engineers across all domains of backend, frontend, and QA. He has headed various pods in Nykaa, including User, Product, and Marketing. Shashwat's major tasks included moving services from monolithic to microservice architecture, mentoring managers/leads to take responsibility and act as owners to their modules, making architectural decisions on backend and frontend systems, and working closely with the product and business team to define high-impact product flows. Shashwat has a thorough understanding of proven software engineering standards and best practices, as well as the latest software development trends and techniques. He is both an architect and a hands-on engineer, capable of designing and building systems from the ground up and end-to-end. His specialties include Java, PHP, Javascript, NodeJS, MySQL, Unix/Linux, and Android Native. He has also worked on platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud. Prior to Nykaa, Shashwat was the Director of Engineering at TrulyMadly, where he ran the entire engineering and QA teams for all TrulyMadly products. He also built the engineering team from scratch, hiring devs and QA engineers. He has also worked as an Engineering Manager at Vdopia. Shashwat holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT and has studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya.
