Shigeki Hirose is a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer currently working at chime. With almost 29 years of relevant experience in the industry, he has worked with a variety of technologies and has an extensive background in software engineering, microservices, Redis, Python, Django, MySQL, and web development. Shigeki has previously worked as a Distinguished Engineer at eventbrite, where he architected and implemented various advanced core ticketing features such as tiered inventory, general admission sections and holds, discounted access codes, promo coded holds, and more. He also orchestrated a team of around 50 engineers to complete a large-scale project in just six weeks, adjusting permission handling for the entire Eventbrite system and microservices. Additionally, he architected and implemented a ticketing partner data import system and various public and private API endpoints. Prior to this, Shigeki served as the Director of Registration and Ticketing at eventbrite, where he managed an engineering team responsible for web purchase flow using Python, Django, MySQL, and Redis. He also optimized and improved the waiting room system for high-volume sales and implemented a caching system using Varnish and ESI. Shigeki holds a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona, where he completed his education in 1994.
