Shishir Chandra is an experienced engineering leader with a demonstrated history of building low latency and resilient distributed platforms, cloud technologies, and data processing systems. With over 14 years of relevant experience, he is skilled in development and automation technologies such as Java, Linux, shell, flume, goblin, docker, test ng, Jenkins, hdfc, performance benchmarking, Kafka, Cassandra, redis, Postgres, elastic search, spark streaming, real-time data processing, Oracle, MySQL, http rest, and thrift. Currently, Shishir is the Director of Engineering - Distributed Platform Engineering at Target, where he is building and scaling a smart distributed data processing platform decoupled from execution engine and underlying infrastructure. Low latency and high processing throughput are the core of it. Prior to this, he was the Senior Engineering Manager - Data Platforms at Target, where he led engineering initiatives of building scalable low latency distributed data systems to enable and empower Target's complex inventory management supply chain systems. In addition to his work at Target, Shishir is also a Technical Mentor at Scaler Academy, where he works with a group of experienced engineers to excel in their technical careers and improve their in-depth understanding of building scalable systems, system design, data structures, and algorithms. A handful of them have now moved to companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and some reputed startups. Shishir is a strong engineering professional with a B.Tech focused in Computer Science. He is also an open source contributor and technical mentor.
