Shivam Garg is a highly skilled software engineer currently working at Google as a Software Engineer. With over 6 years of relevant experience, he has a strong background in machine learning, computer vision, deep learning, and natural language processing. Shivam has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Shivam is passionate about machine learning and its applications to challenging problems in computer vision and NLP. He is currently working on motion prediction for Autonomous Vehicles using deep supervised models and exploring language grounding for robotic navigation on Alfred dataset. He has also worked on improving the recommendation system of Google Discover by mining useful signals from PBs of data. Shivam has experience in using statistical models to machine learning models leveraging the power LETOR framework to automate the tuning process of weights. Apart from his work at Google, Shivam has also worked at Samsung Research, South Korea, where he developed a computer vision system for Samsung Autonomous Vacuum Cleaner product line. He had the ownership for E2E execution of the project, starting from designing the system and its use cases, collecting and writing data collection spec, to shortlisting key ideas, experiment with different models/hardware, tuning the performance on embedded device, collaborating with external hardware suppliers. Shivam is a Kaggle expert with ratings in Competitions. He is also a Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked with Dr. Min Kyung Lee, at UT School of Information, working on Fairness of AI systems and Misinformation detection on social media. Apart from the deliberation project, he trained a fake news detection system for studying the user behavior on algorithmic intervention in flagging content on social media. Shivam is looking for full-time roles outside the USA and is open to any opportunities in his field. He is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for innovation.
