Shivji Kumar Jha is a highly experienced Staff Engineer in data platforms, currently working at Nutanix. He is responsible for managing Apache Pulsar, NATS, Druid, and Debezium, and ensuring their availability, scalability, observability, use cases, architecture, wrapper libraries, and maintaining internal source code forks. He is also responsible for contributing upstream and ensuring that the data platforms are self-hosted in AWS cloud and offered as a service to Nutanix products. Shivji is a regular speaker at open source conferences and has talked on various topics including MySQL replication internals, Apache Pulsar, Apache Bookkeeper, Apache Zookeeper, and Event Sourcing. He has also published several blog posts based on his work in open source codebases, which have been published by different companies. In his current role at Nutanix, Shivji leads a seven-member data platform team that supports multiple Nutanix products. He provides data platforms on the cloud as a service for messaging, streaming, EventSourcing, and OLAP. He also evangelizes data platforms to use them in the best ways for Nutanix products and works with SMEs/staff for Nutanix products on the best data platform practices. Shivji is also responsible for hiring responsibilities for compute and data platforms in the cloud, engaging with open source communities, and maintaining Nutanix internal forks of Apache Pulsar, nats-server, druid, presto, and debezium. Shivji has previously worked at Nutanix as a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SDE 5) and Member of Technical Staff 4. He has also worked with Swiggy and MySQL in the past. Shivji holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Information Technology from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and has also completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya.
