Shobhit Mathur is a Co-Founder and Vice Chancellor of Rishihood University, India's first social-impact university. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay, and completed his MS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington in 2006. Shobhit started his career as a database engineer at Amazon in Seattle, after which he volunteered for many Hindu faith-based organizations in the USA. He returned to India to pursue his calling and contribute to the motherland, starting with Youth For Seva to connect youth to society through volunteering and lowering barriers for their participation in nation-building. After scaling YFS nationally, Shobhit did his MBA from the Indian School of Business and established the Vision India Foundation with his friends from various IITs. VIF was aimed at engaging bright young minds in policy making and governance. After 5 years, VIF transformed into Rishihood University, where Shobhit heads the Rashtram School of Public Leadership as the founding Dean and Vice Chancellor. Shobhit carries a rich experience, from pursuing an international corporate career to building a grassroots volunteering movement to creating a higher education institution. He intends to bring all his education and work experience together and reinvent higher education to serve the needs of society, nation, and the world. Rishihood University's academic areas include creativity, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, and public leadership. The university believes in an 'ecosystem' approach to learning rather than isolated training and research. Therefore, Rishihood actively engages and nurtures an ecosystem for its academic areas as well as for the larger growth of the nation and society. Shobhit's past companies include the Indian School of Business, where he was a Young Leader Award winner for all-round excellence and a Merit and Dean's List holder for top academic performance. He was also the Lead Coordinator of iDiya, India's largest social venture competition hosted by ISB. He was the National Organizing Secretary of Youth for Seva, a volunteering platform for youth who want to take an active part in community development despite time constraints. Shobhit's education history includes a Post Graduate Programme in Management from ISB, an MS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay.
