Sohan Patil is an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for creating software for the Cloud and FinTech industry. With a Masters in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, he has a demonstrated history of working in the areas of Distributed Systems, Software Engineering, and Big Data/Data Science. Sohan is a member of the Technical Staff at Oracle, where he works on the Oracle Kubernetes Engine team. During his time at Stony Brook University, Sohan worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Scalable Data Management and Analytics Lab. Here, he had the opportunity to improve the lives of ALS patients through programming. He also worked on "EyeCanDo," an iOS application that aims to improve the ease of smartphone usage for ALS patients. Sohan interned with Nutanix's Advanced Development Team in the summer of 2020, where he contributed to speculative projects concerning distributed systems. He increased network bandwidth of Kubernetes stack running on Nutanix AHV (on-prem as well as cloud) by 45%, through a CNI Plugin implementation that utilizes the native capabilities of the underlying hypervisor. He also developed a lightweight disaster recovery solution for “Nutanix Clusters on AWS” product that saves 67% of operational cost in comparison with traditional DR approaches. Sohan's technical skills include Kubernetes, Go, Linux Networking, gRPC, AWS Baremetal, and Netfilter. He is a Software Engineer, infra, AWS, Kubernetes, Big Data, Data Scientist, Senior Software Engineer, and Research Scientist. Sohan believes that the best way to predict the future is to implement it in code.
